Just a Note

Nothing new going on with the boys at the moment. Since football is over, they haven't had a lot going on. I'm sure it will pick up in the Spring when Austin and Nathan sign up for soccer and they also want to play T-ball/Baseball. We will be putting Austin in football camp in the summer because he has only one more year of flag football before he goes into tackle. They still have Cub Scouts.
Reid is busy with his activities. Between work and other things, I think we spend more time apart than together. We managed to squeeze the time in though.
I am in transition of taking over as Site Admin for SandhillsMommies.com. They are an Online Moms Group for Lee/Chatham/Moore/Lower Sandhills Area. This is just a local group of a larger Group called The Mommies Network. They have online forums on topics for moms of All ages and differences. It's a very good group and I have met a lot of nice moms. They have playdates for the children, have family activities, and have Mom's Night Outs for the much need breaks for us, Moms. I am really glad to be a part of this group.
That's about it for us. We stay busy. We had 3 parties and a cook-out last week, this week, we went to Scene on the Green and are going to the Christmas Parade in Sanford. Next week is Thanksgiving, and in December, both Reid and I will be involved in the Broadway Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration and Parade. We will be doing something seperate of course.

Championship Tournament

Group Photo after the first game.

Austin receiving his medal.

After they were awarded their medals.

The Team Photo
Austin's team was in the champion ship tournament yesterday. The first game was against the Patriots. The game was close but the Chiefs proved dominant in the end. Austin even got to play some offense. He almost caught a pass had it not been for his other team member jumping in front of him. The score was 15 to 6; Chiefs. The second game was against the Saints. That game was a little better, they played well. The score was 24-8; Chiefs. On to the final game; the Championship game. They play the Chargers. They were the only team who had beat the Chargers. Naturally, the Chiefs were the underdogs. They held the game down. The Chargers first game was an overkill; 46-0. The Chiefs played a good game but still came out as 2nd. The score was 14-13. They lost by one point. Here are some pictures. They will be in the Moore County Paper.

The Instant Replay

Nathan on stage for his award.

Austin being recognized as Character Trait Student for his class in September.

Austin with the rest of his class receiving his award.

Yesterday was the End of Quarter awards ceremony. Nathan recieved an award for Perfect Attendance. He is trying so hard no to miss school this year. I don't know if it's because he really likes his teacher or he just wants an award. I think it's a little of both since he loves his 1st grade teacher this year. Austin was recognized for the Month of September for showing the Character Trait of "Responisibility". He also received an award for "Most Improved Reader" in his class. Reading is the one thing that keeps him from A/B Honor Roll but he's getting extra help and we are hoping he will get after Christmas.

Nathan last game was last night. They were playing for 8th Place in the Age Division. The Cardinals went out with a bang but still didn't when a game. Nathan played a lot more last night. Two members of his team weren't there so he got to play more. He made the last touchdown of the last game. He was given the ball, and he first ran left, than right, then left, than made a dash for the right, stopped, then ran along the line (confused everybody) but it payed off because he made a touch down. One little boy grabbed his belt and slipped and fell but Nathan still had his flags. That's touchdown ended the game, putting the Cardinals 24, the Browns 38.

Austin's team, won, again. They are still tied with the Chargers for 1st Place. If the Chiefs win tonight's and Thursday Game, and the Chargers lose a game, the Chiefs, get to sit out one game for the 1st Place Spot in the Tournament on Saturday. However, if the Chargers win all their games too, both teams have to flip a coin to see who gets to sit out the first game. Last nights game, started out as always, the Chiefs holding on strong, not letting the other team score. They got a touch down, which was no biggy because the Cheifs had already 30 points and just got another touchdown putting them in into 36 to 6 at the last 10 minutes of the game. This HUGE kid (and when I say huge, he was bigger than Jordan) had the ball and started running (from the other end of the field), and the Chiefs couldn't catch him. When they went for the extra points, they gave the ball to the same kid. Next thing we know, Austin grabs on to both this Kid's flags, and the kid dragging him as Austin is pulling hard on the flags, but Austin got one and jumped up with the flag in his hand. It was pretty funny because Austin is one of the smaller kids on the team, he is one of the youngest. So for him to get the biggest kid and getting his flag, while dragged, it's pretty amazing. Austin has a game tonight at 7:30pm. Hope to see you there.

Last Week of Flag Football

If you haven't had a chance already, tonight is the last night Nathan plays football for the season. Austin also has a game tonight, tomorrow night, and Thursday night. I have heard talk that there is a tournament on Saturday. Austin's team is tied with the number one spot. They were undefeated but the chargers beat them last week. They played them again on Saturday and beat the Chargers so they are both tied with the spot. Their team needs to when the next 3 games to remain #1. I hope they can do it. The games are at Hillcrest so bring a chair (maybe a picinic dinner because there is a gap tonight between games) and come watch them play. Nathan's game starts at 6pm and Austin's at 7:30pm.

Halloween Fun

Nathan, of course, had to be the first to DIG IN.

Austin and Nathan getting the INSIDES out.

The Finished Product

The Jack-O-Lattern all lit up .

The Ghostbusters with Miss Kitty.

The kidders all dressed up at the No Scare Fair.

Today was a very busy day for. Austin and Nathan had games today. Austin's team beat the "Undefeated" team that beat them last week. Now they are tied for Number 1 and from what we here, play in tournaments next Saturday. More info on a later day. Nathan got a brief moment to be quarterback and tried to run to make a touchdown (but he's not suppose to do that in the Flag League) but finally decided to hand the ball of to his team mate. The coach who made fun of Nathan, came to apologize to us today. He said he should have handled himself better and that he wasn't aware of Nathan having Autism. We thanked him for the apology and went our seperate ways.

We went back to Reid's Parents house because Jordan wanted to stay there instead of go to the games. We decided to take the boys to the No Scare Fair. Since we chose to go to the last session, I decided to go hunt down a pumpkin, because to Jordan, Halloween isn't the same without Pumpkin Carving. Three stores later, we found the perfect pumpkin. We took it home and the fun began. After we made our "Scary" pumpkin, we placed it next to the other Halloween Decorations and got read for the No Scare Fair. There, they got a whole lot of candy, they got their fortune told, and then decorated a mask. We went back to eat dinner, touch up Hallie's whiskers, then went to Broadway, where we went Door-to-Door. Nathan was quoting the Ghostbusters' Commercial instead of saying Trick -or-Treat. Austin was "Peter", Jordan was "Ray", and Nathan was "Egon". After a couple of streets, we dropped Hallie off and headed home where the boys CRASHED in bed.

The Game Last Night

Last night, Nathan had a flag football game. The other team had a coach who didn't have a great style of coaching kids in this age group. These kids were playing dirty and really weren't playing for the reasons they were playing. Anyway, towards the end of the game, (the other team was winning), Nathan was given the ball and he ran the wrong way. He did it twice, which I was still proud that he's even playing. I think he was being more goofy than anything else. Well aparently, the coach of the other team, took it upon himself to make fun of my son and make some not-so-nice comments. I didn't the comments (which was a good thing for that coach) but Nathan's coaches did and called Parks and Rec today. Well after they did, one of the coaches works with Reid and told him what happened and of course, he tells me. I call Parks and Rec to tell them my concerns. They tell me that after the coaches called, they contacted the refs and they said the same thing. They were waiting for the coach to call back. They were not happy with that either and said they were having some issues with this particular coach. I did make sure that Nathan wasn't aware of what was going on. His coach said no. Well when I pick up my kids from school today, Austin tells me that a kid in his class tells him (he's on Nathan's team because of his age) how the coach of the other team was making fun of his brother. This just makes me mad to a boiling point. Why do they let people like that coach small children anyway???? Do these people realize that their actions influence children?????? What is wrong with them.

Recap of the Games Today.

Nathan's game was first today. The team the played seemed to be more into playing and having fun than actual winning. The score wasn't as high either. Towards the end, Reid sent Hallie and Jordan to get some popcorn, so Jordan calls me. As I was talking on the phone I heard some parents tell a little boy to run. I looked up and noticed it was a Cardinal Player. Then I realized who that Cardinal player was.....NATHAN!!! Nathan ran so hard and so fast that he made a touch down.

Austin played a very close game today. The Chiefs didn't slaughter this team like they had in the past. They played a very tough but very good game. I had never seen them play a team as tough as this one. They still managed to be the more dominant team because they are still undefeated. Go Chiefs!!!!

They both got a real treat, Maw-maw and Paw-paw came to watch one of their games. They were really happy with that one.

Austin has four more games and Nathan has three more games. The Football Season is coming to an end. Then we have a break before Spring where two boys want to play soccer. If you haven't had a chance, come see these boys play. They both have a game on Monday, same field, back to back.
